"For such a time as this ..."

So, these past two weeks have been a struggle for me. I have thought deeply about all of the impacts to education, both positive and negative that the COVID-19 pandemic is having and will have. I have studied exhaustively over the past many years on the powers of blended learning, asynchronous interactions, and deep thinking combined with personal learning. I feel I should have some words of wisdom for teachers as they venture into this "new frontier". Sadly, I feel that I too will need to grow into this situation. Sure, my intellectual research should serve me well but, realistically, I too am treading on a new world. I look forward to some of the opportunities but fear many of the possibilities as well. The question that Akhoff posed all those years ago sits in my thoughts as an anchor dragging my momentum to a slow crawl - I thought I had determined my best course of action and yet, with these new sets of constraints, I am concerned that I didn't ponder them deeply enough.

It is my hope that as these first few days of our new school order begins, that I will, in assisting others find their own direction, will be better able to elucidate my thoughts and actions more clearly. It is in the act of iteration that the best path or solution will be found .. so, as I find myself contemplating the questions formed by both my and my colleagues' realities, and developing possible actions to move us forward, I believe that something of value will occur - maybe only in my personal learning but hopefully in the learning of others as well.

Maybe I will have more to write in a few weeks. Please feel free to offer some suggestions as I often work best when pursuing a solution for someone else. "... And who knows but that you have come to your .. position for such a time as this?”
